Director Sandeep Vanga Reddy explains why he isn’t making Prabhas’ ‘Spirit’ in Hindi

After gaining recognition with his debut film “Arjun Reddy,” director Sandeep Vanga Reddy ventured into Hindi cinema with “Kabir Singh” and “Animal.” Despite facing significant criticism, his latest release “Animal,” starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Bobby Deol, emerged as a commercial success in India. Now, Vanga Reddy is gearing up for his next project titled “Spirit,” featuring Prabhas in the lead role.

 

During the pandemic lockdown, Vanga Reddy penned the script for “Spirit.” Currently, the film is in the pre-production stage and is expected to commence filming by the end of the year. Vanga Reddy shared his experience of getting Prabhas on board for “Spirit.” He expressed his interest in collaborating on a Hollywood remake with the actor, to which Prabhas responded that he preferred working on an original story. Subsequently, “Spirit” came into being.

The idea for “Spirit” struck Vanga Reddy while he was occupied with the production of “Animal.” After finalizing the title and narrating the storyline to Prabhas, the actor readily agreed to be part of the project. Vanga Reddy emphasized his decision to make the film in Telugu, as he believes the story will resonate more deeply with the Telugu audience.
